Hamedina Square, Tel Aviv
Hamedina Square, Tel Aviv

Kikar Hamedina – the “Square of the State” – is the largest plaza in Tel Aviv. It’s a fantastic urban landmark designed by Brazillian architect Oscar Niemeyer in collaboration with the Israeli architects Israel Lotan and Abba Elhanani, who designed the residential buildings surrounding it. It was built in the 1970s, in a circular shape, with residential buildings surrounding a public park. In 2015, MYS Architects received the contract to design three skyscrapers that will provide 453 apartments at the heart of the square.  This is part of a project to rejuvenate Kikar Hamedina.

Kikar Hamedina is surrounded by He Be’Iyar Street, which is circular and lined with luxury residential apartments and designer boutiques like Fendi, Prada, Escada, Burberry, Gucci, and many others. It’s a pleasure to stroll around and to see all the pretty storefronts along the way. There are also many cafes perfect to take a break. Or buy an ice cream cone and relax in the park.

When you visit Kikar Hamedina you are steps away from Gan HaGat (the Wine Press Garden) – a hidden, off-the-beaten-path Helenistic archaeological site surrounded by ancient stone pillars and verdant vegetation.

Address: Hei be-Iyar St, Tel Aviv Jaffa
